Introduction to Computers

In this lesson, you will learn about:

• The history of computers and their impact on society
• The different types of computers (desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc.)
• The basic components of a computer (CPU, RAM, hard drive, motherboard, etc.)
• Input and output devices (keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, etc.)
• Software vs. hardware

Activities:

• Watch a video or read an article about the history of computers
• Take apart a computer and identify the different components
• Identify the input and output devices of a computer
• Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different types of computers

Homework:

• Research a famous computer pioneer or invention and write a short report on their impact on the field of computing.
